Project Highlight: Dunes Wastewater Treatment Expansion Today’s Project Highlight as we continue to celebrate our industry with Construction Appreciation Week is Dunes Wastewater Treatment Expansion. Located in Palm Coast , Florida, this is an addition to an existing wastewater treatment plant we were selected to perform by our client, Dunes Community Development District. Project included construction of a new EQ basin, and additional SBR train and two new digesters with a polymer building. We provided a pad for holding two sludge drying boxes. In addition to new this construction, we demoed their existing digesters and drying beds. This work was performed to make room for a new storage building. After installing a new outdoor generator, we removed their existing generator, followed by a remodel of the space to provide two new restroom facilities. The goal of this project is to increase the capacity of the existing plant and allow them to balance their flow rates through the plant. We extend a gratitude of thanks and applaud everyone on the team who had a role in the success of this project: From PSC Project Manager, Paul Gilsdorf; Superintendent, Jeff Rocek; and Project Engineer, Aaron Gildea. From Dunes, CDD Greg Peugh; District Manager, Dave Ponitz , Utility Manager; Dave Boss, WWTP Chief Operator. Additional support staff includes Joshua Pickett, Engineering PM and Lucida XU, Design Engineer , both of CPH. And Steve Bailey, Electrical Engineer of Bailey Engineering. #PSCC#constructionappreciationweek#thanksforbuilding#ibuildamerica#wwtp

  • Construction Appreciation Week: Day 3

Project Highlight: Ocala Wetland Groundwater Recharge Park This exciting project for the City of Ocala is a 60-acre parcel located next to the Pine Oaks Golf Course with existing oak canopies, lined irrigation ponds, trails, and grassy fairways. The Wetland Groundwater Recharge Park’s goal is to preserve existing oak canopy, transform the ponds into deep marshes, and convert the fairways to wetlands. Petticoat Schmitt Project Managers, Jason Plauche and Lauren Bedford, Project Engineer, Jordan Thurston were the team building this project with remarkable client support from City of Ocala. Collaborating with the City’s Project Managers, Jimmy Lopez and Richard Castillo, this park will be create a wetland ecosystem, improve water quality, and boost regional groundwater supplies. The design includes a rapid infiltration basins that will replenish the Floridian Aquifer faster than current natural rates. The Wetland Groundwater Recharge Park has three ponds with varying depths, equipped with plants that will help further filter the treated water before it returns to the upper Floridian aquifer. The City currently pumps treated water from water reclamation facilities to parks, golf courses, residential areas and spraying fields to provide irrigation. The two city facilities, which receive residential and industrial sewage water, treat an average of 5 million gallons of water a day. The Wetland Groundwater Recharge Park will accept water currently pumped to spraying fields. The park’s future site has a daily recharge rate and is expecting 3 million and 5 million gallons of water pass through it each day. By replenishing a portion of the water the city removes from the aquifer will help Ocala continue to grow and develop. #PSCC#ibuildamerica#constructionappreciationweek

Project Highlight: PFS Chill Build Warehouse Authored by: Judson Cutts and Kim Bryan As we continue recognizing the industry we love as part of Construction Appreciation Week, we present to you today's Project Highlight, PFS Chill Build in Jacksonville, Florida. How much soil can you place on a 14 AC site? Well, when you fill a 200,000 SF building pad and add surcharge over 10’ high, more than you think! At the height of the earthwork operation, we placed more than 40,000 CY in a single week! When the surcharge had done its job, the removal began and we removed nearly 50,000 CY in just a couple of weeks. This project also has a lift station, onsite and offsite water and forcemains, ditch paving, heavy and light duty concrete paving auto and truck lots, extensive storm drain and an emergency access road. When the project is complete, it will be a highly automated refrigerated warehouse. Click this link for a time lapsed view of how this Chill Build has progressed. https://app.truelook.com/?m=15542777146582933134941 We extend appreciation to our client, Victory Unlimited Construction, for selecting Petticoat Schmitt Civil Contractors for this project. We are proud to do our part in bringing Chill Build Warehouse to our local community! #PSCC#ibuildamerica#constructionappreciationweek#thanksforbuilding

  • Construction Appreciation Week: Day 1

Project Highlight : Talleyrand Waste Water Pump Station Construction Appreciation Week has arrived and we are excited to share our life changing industry with you. To kick off the week, we have selected JEA's Talleyrand Waste Water Pump Station as today’s Project Highlight. The major scope of work is the replacement of gates within the pump station to allow JEA to alternate the transmission it receives for access between two separate wet wells. One of the unique challenges to achieve this work item is bypassing an existing 78” gravity sewer main. This has been accomplished with frequent coordination of Petticoat Schmitt Civil Contractors and JEA’s top wastewater leadership teams including Superintendent Jay Ethriedge and Ed Dendor, Project Manager from PSCC and Nick Payne, Construction Specialist, Phil Maltese, Plant Coordinator and Bill Clendening, Project Manager all from JEA. The Talleyrand station is one of JEA’s master pump station receiving 45 million gallons of waste water from other sub pumping stations. This flow is from gravity and force mains received from residential, commercial and industrial systems, downtown Jacksonville and San Marco before it is sent to JEA’s Buckman Wastewater facility for treatment. From there it is treated to reach the same levels as reclaim water then discharged. The environmental benefit for this type of reuse water is often used for irrigation, industrial purposes and groundwater recharge. We invite you to join us by clicking, liking and sharing our posts this week with your family, friends and colleagues! #PSCC#JEA#ibuildamerica#constructionappreciationweek#thanksforbuilding#webuildlifechanginginfrastructure
